Saturday Preview 25.2.12

The autumn carnival is now in full swing with a magnificent days racing both at Caulfield & Rosehill. Caulfield's Group 1 features include the Blue Diamond Stakes, the Oakleigh Plate & the Futurity along with the Autumn Stakes & Angus Armanasco for the 3yos, the Peter Young (formerly known as the St George Stakes) & the Mannerism. All races look terrific affairs & all appear very tough tasks for punters. Rosehill host the Group 2 Apollo Stakes, the Triscay Stakes & the Southern Cross Stakes.

Morphettville host the Listed Redelva Stakes while Ascot host the Listed Cyril Flower which brings together a classy line up of open aged gallopers. Eagle Farm's program features big fields & an impossible task for punters in most of the events.

Plenty more galloping action around the country including the Gold Coast, Newcastle, Wodonga, & Wagga. So once again something for all punters this Saturday as there always is.

Gallopers has a focus page specifically for the Blue Diamond Stakes, to view please click here.

Caulfield R4 Angus Armanasco 1400m **

1 #5 Soft Sand - quality filly who will attain group 1 glory at some stage of her career, this is he next step & should be winning here despite the poor barrier
2 #7 Nocturnelle - winner 3 of only 4 runs & walked in first up, this tougher however she has class & will be hard to beat again
3 #11 Twilighting - is very smart on her day, excellent first up effort, form franked since so do not discount
4 #3 Shopaholic - terrific effort last week to beat Mosheen however that was a gut buster & it will be hard for her to back up, an undeniable chance if right

Caulfield R5 Futurity  1400m **

1 #2 King Mufhasa - gets top billing here by default as most of his rivals will need the run or are simply not up to Group 1 standard, is fit, been aimed for this race & will be well ridden
2 #5 Playing God - excellent first up run however will need some real speed on to show his best
3 #3 Wall Street - never far away in this grade, first up & has won first up in the past & this race is not strong
4 #10 Pinker Pinker - first up & has never won first up in the past, she can win this race without surprising from the good draw

Caulfield R6 Oakleigh Plate  1100m ***

1 #6 Bel Sprinter - explosive sprinter who showed his quality in his first up win beating some very good horses, looks well weighted here & will give this a real shake
2 #1 Sepoy - champion 3yo however top weight against the older horses is a real concern, a win would not surprise
3 #17 African Pulse - classy colt first up & does appear to get in okay at the weight & the draw is good
4 #4 Woorim - has a great first up record & unbeaten this distance, definite winning chance

Caulfield R8 Peter Young Stakes  1800m **

1 #13 Southern Speed - outstanding first up win then far from disgraced behind Black Caviar last start, fitter now, well drawn & will be well ridden
2 #5 Manighar - excellent first up win how ever concerned if he can reproduce that second up, if he can, he wins
3 #12 Illo - first up run was good, distance suits & he can figure here
4 #4 Glass Harmonium - first up so that is a worry however will go forward & stay out of trouble & prove hard to run down

Rosehill R5 Southern Cross Stakes  1200m ***

1 #2 Neeson - first up & never won first up however has been fitted for this with 2 barrier trials & has the acceleration over this trip to put paid to his rivals early in the straight
2 #1 Secret Admirer - has a big weight first up & probably needs further however has class on her side for this
3 #8 Latin News - last couple of runs have been good although not raced for 6 weeks, has a bit on most of these
4 #3 Triple Elegance - first up & looking for more ground however should be running on

Rosehill R6 Apollo Stakes  1400m ***

1 #5 Rain Affair - blitzed rivals in the Expressway, first try this trip however the way he races he breaks his opposition's hearts & he is bred to get the trip, the one to run down again
2 #6 Centennial Park - good first up effort & can only improve on the run, hard to see him turning the tables on Rain Affair
3 #3 Trusting - first up & there are two of him, has class & should run well here
4 #1 Rangirangdoo - put in the worst run of his career first up & will improve here, he can go close to winning here if at his top

Rosehill R7 Triscay Stakes  1200m **

1 #14 Johannapine - very smart mare winner 3 of only 4 starts, also engaged Caulfield however this race looks easier is fit & ideally drawn to win
2 #3 Dystopia - fit & in form mare who will give this a shake with a few of her rivals lacking her racing edge
3 #6 Balmont - first up however has won first up twice in the past so must be respected here
4 #5 Ofcourseican - awkwardly drawn however is a most consistent mare & can figure in this race

Morphettville R7 Redelva Stakes  1050m **

1 #1 Cash Bound - extra smart horse resuming, should sit off a hot speed here & power home late
2 #6 Zippa The Rippa - strong winner at Moonee Valley last start against a very strong field, has won here over this course & distance & will prove hard to beat
3 #8 Draw Forward - winner only 3 attempts this preparation & is drawn to get a gun run here, definite chance
4 #11 Slippery Ninja - this a big rise in grade however did beat the older horses last start after an easy maiden win, might be one at odds for the multiples

Best of luck & profitable punting to all this Saturday .....
