Located in the Coonawarra wine region of South Australia close to the Victorian border, Penola ia a gras track almost ciscular in shape.

All start points favour inside barriers with the exception of the 1700m start which does give a decent run to the first turn.

On pace runners are advantaged with a short straight although if the jocks take off early around the 700m they can usually get into the race okay.

This track is tricky to ride & can provide plenty of upset results.
