ROSEHILL
Lovely grass track located some 30km west of Sydney close to the city of Parramatta. One of the better planned courses although there is a major exception.
The straight is over 400m in length so generally every horse gets their chance.
The course proper starting points are all excellent, 2000m, 1900m, 1500m & 1400m all give good long run ins to the first turn.
Alas, the most important starting
point, the 1200m Golden Slipper, is diabolical. Barely a 250m run to the first
turn, which is actually a hair pin bend meaning any horse trapped wide has no
winning hope at all. Inside barriers from the 1200m & 1100m starts are a major
advantage. Any horse drawn outside 5 or 6 from these barriers will struggle.
