GALLOPERS NEWS 15.11.11 Jackie
Lee, An Inexpensive Success Story
The result was Jackie Lee. Jackie Lee was born, raised, educated (& gelded) here at Massie Lodge before going to Leo Roche to be broken in. Leo is well known to people currently for being a part owner of the very smart Brisbane sprinter Carry Me Bluey, who he raised & broke in as a youngster. Jackie Lee, after being broken in was sent to Cairns where his owners reside to commence his racing career. He was named Rattus Conatus. The now 4yo gelding has been a terrific money spinner for his connections. Prior to today he had had 23 starts for 3 wins & 9 minor placings winning over $54k in prize money. Today at Townsville, Jackie Lee won his 4th career race, taking his total career earnings to over $60k. For a $1,000 purchase, he has certainly paid his way & there are plenty more wins in store for the son of Conatus. Sure, Cluden Park aint Royal Randwick on Derby Day or Flemington on Melbourne Cup day, however, those who have owned race horses would gladly take an honest money earner like Jackie Lee most days of the week. Owners & breeders Rob & Jane Koch of Cairns, have built up quite a stable over the past few years with success coming sparsely, although they have won the Cairns & Innisfail Cups with Super Blitz in 2006 & just this year won the big 2yo event in Townsville the Palloranda with promising filly Boom Sha La, who they have high hopes of winning the Great Northern 2yo event in June 2012. Jackie Lee fits in well with their future plans & they are proud of his achievements thus far. And we here at Massie Lodge are also very proud of the little blokes efforts on the track to date. He was a lovely horse to raise, & he is proving as honest as the day is long on the track, with hopefully many more wins in store in the future.
